Diwali 2016: In A First, Singapore Launches Diwali-Themed Train
Diwali is round the corner and Indians over the world are adapting to praise the celebration of lights on October 30 this year.
From shopping garments, footwear and jewellery to purchasing decorative things and diyas to decorate and light up their homes, arrangements are on going all out to commend one of the greatest Indian celebrations – Diwali. And while back home in India the energy for the day is ascending with every passing day, Singapore too has participate to praise the celebration of lights.
On October 15, a fortnight before Diwali, Singapore propelled its first Diwali-themed train prepare on its North East Line (NEL) which has a station named ‘Little India.
In fact, both the stages of the Little India station too were decorated with beautiful themes, floral designs and rangolis. The coaches of the Diwali-themed train were decked up with excellent pictures of diyas and garlands. Different components, for example, complex Indian jewellery, the lotus and peacock – an symbol of good fortunes – likewise included on the train coaches.

The train was launched by the Land Transport Authority as a team with the Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association (LISHA).
It was introduced by Minister for Transport, Mr Khaw Boon Wan, and will keep running on the North East Line (NEL) till mid-November, the transport department wrote on their Facebook page.
